The Office of the University Registrar conducts training on a variety of topics for the faculty and staff at UNC-Chapel Hill. Our team of trainers are all subject matter experts in the various topics and all have experience using ConnectCarolina as users.

Users can sign up for a training directly or have a list of trainings sent to them upon submission of an Infoporte request for Student Records access

Accessing Student Records Data in Infoporte

Description:

This session will cover how to use InfoPorte to pull student data.

We will work with each of the reporting tabs (Term Enrollment, Degree Candidates, Degree Recipients, and Reports).

This will be a hands on training so everyone will have a computer and learn all about InfoPorte student reporting – how to logon, identifying all majors and minors in a specific department, listing all courses being taught by a department this term, as well as ethnicity and contact information. This training is appropriate for new and experienced users of InfoPorte. Bring a data request with you and we’ll work through it together!

Prerequisites:

    • FERPA Online Training Module

Curriculum Inventory Management (CIM) Courses Training

Description: Staff from the University Registrar’s Curriculum Team and the Office of Undergraduate Curricula have scheduled workshops for users who want to learn more about the CIM Courses module. These workshops are specifically tailored for new users from departments/schools that are planning to submit undergraduate and/or graduate course proposals this year. But current users who want a refresher training on the CIM Courses module are more than welcome to register!

Topics covered include:

  • Access and search in CIM-Courses
  • Propose a new course
  • Edit an existing course
  • Deactivate an existing course
  • Preview workflow steps (and users) for your department/school
    • How to add/edit/remove users
  • Review and approve a course proposal
  • Check the status of a course proposal

The workshop will also provide an overview of the CIM-Course form and the required syllabi elements for undergraduate course proposals.

Curriculum Inventory Management (CIM) Programs Training

Description: Staff from the University Registrar’s Curriculum Team and the Office of Undergraduate Curricula have scheduled workshops for users who want to learn more about the CIM Programs module. These workshops are specifically tailored for new users from departments/schools that are planning to submit undergraduate program changes this year. But current users who want a refresher training on the CIM Program module are more than welcome to register!

Topics covered include:

  • How to access and search in CIM-Courses
  • Preview workflow steps (and users) for your department/school
    • How to add/edit/remove users
  • Overview of the CIM-Program form and required fields
  • How to edit CIM-Program requirements, including:
    • Adding or removing courses from a list
    • Adding footnotes
    • Referencing cross-listed courses
    • Adding/editing a Sample Plan
    • Creating headings using the UNC Catalog style guide
  • How to add additional supporting documents to the proposal

Catalog (CAT) Training

Description: Staff from the University Registrar’s Curriculum Team and the Office of Undergraduate Curricula offer workshops for faculty and staff who want to learn more about the Catalog (CAT) module and editing process. These workshops are tailored for users who are assigned to the ‘Catalog Editor’ role for their department or school. The training class will cover the following information:

  • Access and login to the CAT module
  • Preview of the new CourseLeaf User Dashboard
  • Catalog organization, content managed in CAT, and content managed outside of CAT
  • Editing toolbar, editing content, tables, and course lists
  • Submitting CAT pages to workflow and tracking approval
  • Production timeline
  • Help guides and resources

Course Management Access in ConnectCarolina

Description:

In this training class, we will cover the following:

  • Setting Up Courses
  • Adding Instructors
  • Setting Enrollment
  • Working with Waitlists
  • Maintaining Crosslists
  • Room Scheduling.

Grade Change Training

This Records and Enrollment staff lead training provides guidance of grade change policies and procedures. Topics include the following:

  • Types of grade changes
  • Requesting a grade change
  • Approving temporary and permanent grade changes
  • Grade lapse deadlines

Important: Attendees must hold a position of Department Chair or Academic Dean.

Graduation Training

During this session, you will learn how to utilize Graduation Tracking in ConnectCarolina.

Student Records: Block Enrollment

Description:

This training session teaches you how to use Block Enrollment to add or drop a group of students into one or more classes as well as show you how to resolve enrollment errors when using Block Enrollment.

Registration and Enrollment Training

Description:

This training emphasizes the pages that are used to manage student records and registration at UNC Chapel Hill.

Topics:

In this training class, we will cover the following:

    • Managing Program/Plan (major, minor and specializations)
    • Enrolling Students
    • Using Enrollment Overrides
    • Review of Class Search process
    • Viewing Service Indicators
    • Other information related to enrollment

Student Records: Program-and-Plan Update

Description:

The Program/Plan training is designed for staff that will need to process program/plan updates in their current position, such as Student Services Managers in Professional Schools or Staff who work in an Academic Dean’s Office.

Topics:

In this training class, we will cover the following:

  • Understanding program/plan stack
  • Making Program changes
  • Making Plan changes (majors, 2nd majors, minors, concentrations, other plans)
  • Working with Requirement terms
  • Using Effective dating on program/plan rows

Student Records: Underloads

Description:

This online course provides you with an overview on the current process of submitting underloads as well as an in-depth look at the new process of submitting underloads. Following the course presentation, you will complete a short quiz to ensure you are prepared to successfully submit underloads on behalf of your students.

Tar Heel Tracker: Basics

Description:

In this class you will learn about the various Tar Heel Tracker reports, how to access them in ConnectCarolina, and how to interpret the report. Some of the topics we will cover include using the What-If report, identifying and understanding adjustments and exceptions in a student’s report, as well as reviewing resources for the Tar Heel Tracker on campus.

Prerequisites:

Tar Heel Tracker: Adjustments

Description:

In this class you will learn how to access, fill out, and submit an adjustment to a student’s Tar Heel Tracker report. You will also learn how to look up previously submitted adjustments for any given student as well as how to view, interpret, and utilize the tracker report. Currently this training is for Deans, Directors of Undergraduate Study (DUS), DUS designates, and Academic Advisors only.

Tar Heel Tracker: RAM Training

Description:

The Requirement Adjustment Module, known as RAM, is a new system that enables the user to make adjustments to the Tar Heel Tracker in real-time.

As courses enter the Tar Heel Tracker, they fall into the first requirement that is not yet completed, but that can be fulfilled by the course. Adjustments are needed whenever a course needs to be moved to another requirement.

This training provides instructions for reviewing and approving electronic Student Withdrawal requests, viewing an existing request, and initiating a Withdrawal request on behalf of a student in Connect Carolina.

Student Withdrawal/Cancellation Process Training

Description:

This training provides instructions for reviewing and approving electronic Student Withdrawal requests, viewing an existing request, and initiating a Withdrawal request on behalf of a student in Connect Carolina.

In this training class, we will cover the following:

  • Review and Approve a Withdrawal Request
  • View a Withdrawal Request
  • Submit a Withdrawal Request on Behalf of a Student
  • Adding Grades to a Withdrawal Request
