- During Wave 1 undergraduates can register for up to 13 credit hours.
- During Wave 2 undergraduates can register for up to 17 credit hours, and additionally waitlist for up to 12 credit hours.
- Waitlist hours are separate from total enrolled hours.
Open enrollment begins after Wave 2 at which time students can register for up to 18 credit hours. Graduate, professional, post-baccalaureate, incoming first-year and non-degree seeking students will register in accordance with their program.
Appointments
Registration appointments open every 3-hours beginning at 7:00 a.m., 10:00 a.m., 1:00 p.m., and 4:00 p.m. Once a registration appointment opens, students can adjust their schedules until the end of the given wave. Students can use the Tarheel Tracker to calculate the credit hours used to assign their registration appointment. Under degree requirements is “Calculated Hours for Registration.” This section calculates the number of credit hours a student has that determines their day of registration. The hours here are different from the degree applicable hours. To determine a student’s day of registration, credit hours are calculated as follows:
-
- All hours completed while in residence at UNC
- UNC-accepted transfer credit hours
- Completed and posted study abroad credits
- By-examination (BE) and placement (PL) credits are excluded
- Current term and all in-progress hours are excluded
If you are curious about how your enrollment appointment was determined, you can view the calculated hours in your Tar Heel Tracker. Navigate to the Academics drop-down menu in your New Student Center and select Tar Heel Tracker.
Click the Degree Requirements section then the Calculated Hours for Your Enrollment Appointment tab.
The number of credit hours used to calculate your enrollment appointment will be listed at the bottom right. Additionally, you can select the View Courses button to see a list of which classes have been factored into calculation.
