Training classes and workshops
The Office of the University Registrar conducts training on a variety of topics for the faculty and staff at UNC-Chapel Hill. Our team of trainers are all subject matter experts in the various topics.
All classes listed below are held in the Registrar’s training room (SASB North 3124). Click for directions

Student Records: Block Enrollment
Description
This training session teaches you how to use Block Enrollment to add or drop a group of students into one or more classes. We will also show you how to resolve enrollment errors when using Block Enrollment.

Student Records: Registration
Description
This training emphasizes the pages that are used to manage student records and registration at UNC Chapel Hill.
Topics
Managing program/plan (major, minor and specializations), enrolling students, using enrollment overrides, review of class search, viewing service indicators, and other information related to enrollment

Student Records: Workshops
Description
These sessions are open to staff members who need help registering students, updating program/plans or have questions related to registration. Registration Staff will be present to answer questions you have.
Note: There is no formal training during these sessions. You may come and go as you please.

Classroom Assignment Software
Description
This training session teaches you how to use Ad Astra for classroom scheduling. You learn how to schedule your priority General Purpose Classrooms as well as classrooms you control.

Curriculum Management Access
Description
This training session teaches you how to schedule a new classes, including multiple sections of classes, delete existing classes, schedule meeting patterns, assign instructors, and restrict classes to a certain group of students all in ConnectCarolina.

Curriculum Management Access: Workshop
Description
These sessions are open to staff members who need help scheduling their classes during Course Schedule Maintenance.
Scheduling Staff will be present to answer any questions about creating and editing classes you may have.

Course Request Approval System
Description
How to submit requests to add, revise, or inactivate courses in the ConnectCarolina course catalog using the new Course Request Approval System.
Provides an overview of the approval process and electronic workflow. This training session is for staff and faculty authorized by their department or curriculum to submit course requests.

Tar Heel Tracker Basics
Description
In this class you will learn about the various Tar Heel Tracker reports, how to access them in ConnectCarolina, and how to understand the report. Some of the topics we will cover include using the What-If report, identifying and understanding adjustments and exceptions in a student’s report, and references and resources for the Tar Heel Tracker on campus. This class is open to anyone who has access to student records via Advisor Center or Student Services Center in ConnectCarolina.

Tar Heel Tracker Adjustments
Description
In this class you will learn how to access, fill out, and submit an adjustment to a student’s Tar Heel Tracker report. You will also learn how to look up previously submitted adjustments for any given student. Currently this training is for Deans, Directors of Undergraduate Study (DUS), DUS designates, and Academic Advisors only.This training will teach the user how to view, interpret, and utilize the tracker report

Student Records OBIEE Dashboard Reports
Description
OBIEE is UNC-Chapel Hill’s new self-service reporting instance for use in the new ConnectCarolina (PeopleSoft) Campus Solutions Data Warehouse.
Each training class will include a demonstration of how to access and use the following key reports:
- Class Instructor
- Class Meeting
- Degree Candidates
- Degree Recipients
- Term Enrollment
- Class
- Class TBA
This Training will also include information on how to get help and how to report problems.
Note: Access to these Student Records OBI reports is based upon your access in ConnectCarolina to Class Scheduling, Enrollment/Registration, or Advisor functions.
