DIPLOMA DISTRIBUTION

DIPLOMA DISTRIBUTION

Your Diploma in Transit

Unless special arrangements have been made by departments, diplomas for all degrees are ordered after graduation and mailed to each graduate’s home address (as listed in ConnectCarolina). Diplomas are mailed via standard US postal service, which does not include tracking or delivery confirmation. You may request expedited shipping via FedEx, which includes tracking and delivery confirmation.

Designate Your Home Address

The Home Address listed in ConnectCarolina is where mailed diplomas are shipped. It is your responsibility to make sure this is where your diploma should be delivered by the posted deadline.

Distribution Schedule by Term

Graduation TermDiploma Mailing
December (Fall)Early February
May (Spring)
Early August
August (Summer)Mid-September

If it has been more than four weeks since your diploma should have arrived according to the below distribution schedule and you still reside at the Home Address listed on your ConnectCarolina account, email your name, PID, and home address to mygraduation@registration.unc.edu to request assistance.

International Addresses

Diplomas sent to international addresses are shipped via regular international US postal service, which does not include tracking information. Be aware that diploma tubes must pass through the destination country’s Customs Office, which can significantly delay delivery.

FedEx Shipping

Graduates with overseas home addresses may want to consider requesting expedited delivery, which includes tracking information. You may request delivery of your diploma for a $30 fee via Federal Express by completing the Diploma Fed Ex Delivery Form

Check the deadline to submit the Diploma FedEx Delivery Request Form on Important Graduation Dates. Graduates who are submitting a form after the posted deadline should email mygraduation@registrar.unc.edu to confirm if this option is still available before submitting the request. Any request received after the diploma order has been placed will be cancelled unless the diploma is being held in the Registrar’s Office.

Have a hold on your record?

If you have a hold in ConnectCarolina, it may be preventing the release of your diploma. Please follow the directions on the hold. Since the Registrar’s Office is not notified when holds are released, email the Registrar’s Office at: mygraduation@registrar.unc.edu with your name, PID, and current mailing address once it has been removed to request release of your diploma.

Forwarding of Diplomas and Address Changes

    • If it is not returned, you will be responsible for ordering a replacement copy
